DC Studios co-chief James Gunn confirmed that casting for the DC Universe Batman is approaching soon, according to reports from The Wrap, Variety, and GamesRadar+. Speaking on a studio podcast alongside his wife Jennifer Holland, Gunn stated that the role has not been cast yet and dismissed previous rumours regarding early appearances as false, as reported by The Wrap and ComingSoon. [1][3][4][10]
Variety and GamesRadar+ reported that the new actor chosen for Bruce Wayne will be roughly the same age as David Corenswet, who stars as Superman in the rebooted franchise. Variety and SlashFilm added that casting a major movie star is not mandatory for the role, with Gunn emphasizing his focus on hiring the best actor for the part regardless of prior star status, according to The Wrap. [1][3][5][10]
According to ComingSoon, the character is set to make his DCU debut in the feature film The Brave and the Bold, directed by Andy Muschietti. The new iteration will exist alongside Matt Reeves' standalone series starring Robert Pattinson, which remains separate from the core DCU continuity, as Variety reported. [3][4]
The casting initiative comes four years after the creation of DC Studios under Gunn and co-chief Peter Safran, according to The Wrap and Variety. Gunn, who previously directed The Suicide Squad in 2021, continues to establish the official canon and continuity for the studio's upcoming slate of theatrical projects. [1][3][7][12]
