Dune Part Three set for December release with 150 minute runtime

Production designer Patrice Vermette constructed a 55-ton spaceship for the opening sequence of Dune: Part Three, Variety reported. The upcoming sci-fi feature opens on December 18 and stars Timothee Chalamet, who returns as Paul Atreides following the character's ascent to power at the end of the second film. Vermette promised that the third installment will be a major spectacle. [1][6]

The feature will run for 2 hours and 30 minutes, according to a theatrical listing on the website of AMC reported by ComingSoon. This runtime makes the upcoming sequel the shortest entry in the film franchise to date. [3]

Denis Villeneuve directed and co-wrote the first installment, Dune, which was released in 2021 as an adaptation of the 1965 novel by Frank Herbert. The film launched Villeneuve's planned movie trilogy focused on the war for the desert planet Arrakis. [1][6]
