Actor Johnny Depp has publicly addressed his potential return as Captain Jack Sparrow for a sixth Pirates of the Caribbean feature film, according to reports from Variety and IGN. Speaking during his Ebenezer press tour to Entertainment Tonight, Depp stopped short of confirming his participation but revealed he is open to reprising the role under specific conditions. [1][2][10]
According to Variety and ScreenRant, Depp stated that his sole motivation for returning to the long-running Disney franchise would be to send the series off on a better note. Depp also noted that he would never turn down a direct request from franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer if the creative parameters align to cap off the property. [1][2]
The potential sixth installment follows 2017's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which was directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg and written by Jeff Nathanson. That fifth installment featured Depp alongside Javier Bardem and Geoffrey Rush. [12]
