Actor Harry Shum Jr has expressed interest in returning to the Glee and Crazy Rich Asians franchises as both projects move forward with new continuations. Speaking in a post-show interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Grey's Anatomy star and Dancing with the Stars contestant confirmed his fondness for both properties and stated that he would love to find a way to make a return work. ComingSoon and Deadline both reported his comments. [1][2]
According to Deadline, HBO ordered a television series based on Crazy Rich Asians on October 7. Disney+ and Hulu ordered a Glee reboot on October 21. ComingSoon reported that neither production has confirmed official involvement from the actor at this time, though TV Insider noted that a new Glee revival project is scheduled to stream on Disney+ and Hulu. The original Crazy Rich Asians theatrical film released in 2018 was directed by Jon M. Chu from a screenplay by Peter Chiarelli and Adele Lim. As FTMQ Film & TV reported earlier, HBO greenlit an eight-episode drama series continuing the story, with original cast members Constance Wu, Henry Golding, and Ronny Chieng attached as series regulars. Production on the series is scheduled to begin in 2027. [6][8]
Glee originally aired as a musical comedy-drama on the Fox Broadcasting Company, created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan. Shum Jr currently acts on the long-running ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy, which was created by Shonda Rhimes and premiered in 2005. [5][7]
