DC Studios co-chief executive Peter Safran confirmed the studio held discussions with Reacher actor Alan Ritchson regarding potential roles, according to Collider, ComingSoon, and ScreenRant. Deadline reported Ritchson departed the production for undisclosed reasons, and representatives for Netflix declined to comment on the change. [5][6][7]

Maelstrom is a hurricane-set action thriller directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, according to Collider and Deadline. Ritchson previously starred in the feature War Machine for streamer Netflix, ScreenRant reported. [5][6][7]

As FTMQ Film and TV reported earlier, Peter Safran and James Gunn have served as co-chief executives of Warner Bros. division DC Studios since 2022. The executive team maintains complete oversight of comic book adaptations for the Warner Bros. Discovery label, according to IndieWire. [4][10]
