DC Studios co-head James Gunn confirmed on Threads that actors Josh Hutcherson and Mackenzie Davis will lead the voice cast for the upcoming animated series Mister Miracle. ComingSoon and AOL reported that Gunn acknowledged the casting move after co-head Peter Safran accidentally revealed the details early. [1][8]
Hutcherson and Davis are set to voice the New Gods characters Mister Miracle and Big Barda, respectively. ComingSoon reported that the project is an adaptation of writer Tom King's 2017 comic book run of the same name. [1]
The project expands DC Studios' slate under the leadership of Gunn and Safran, who were appointed co-chairmen and co-CEOs of the division in 2022. Gunn previously directed superhero features including The Suicide Squad and the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. [10][12]
The announcement comes as DC Studios continues to develop its long-term slate. The Hollywood Reporter reported that Gunn and Safran recently presented their future multi-year plans to new Paramount executive David Ellison during the world premiere of their film Clayface in Los Angeles. [2]
