Apple TV Releases Everest Biographical Drama Tenzing

Apple TV has released its latest feature film, Tenzing, to platform subscribers following a limited theatrical release. Decider and 9to5Mac both reported that the biographical drama began streaming on October 16, 2026. The production is an original feature from Apple Original Films, according to 9to5Mac. [2][3][4]

The film stars Genden Phuntsok in his English-language debut as Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay, alongside Tom Hiddleston as Edmund Hillary and Willem Dafoe as expedition leader John Hunt, Decider reported. The narrative re-centers the 1953 expedition on Norgay to highlight his equal role in reaching the summit of Mount Everest, which Western accounts often presented as a British victory. [2][4]

Jennifer Peedom directed the feature from a script written by Luke Davies, according to Decider. Decider also reported that actor Tom Hiddleston stated production took place on location without sound stages, studios, or green screens. Outside Magazine added that filmmakers shot in locations across New Zealand and Nepal to recreate the Everest ascent. [2][7][9]

Thomas William Hiddleston is a British actor whose career accolades include a Golden Globe Award alongside two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. [12]
