Director Craig Zobel is set to direct a feature film adaptation of the comic book series Something Is Killing the Children. The Wrap and ScreenRant both report that the project is moving forward at Blumhouse, with the filmmaker publicly sharing the announcement. [1][2]

The production features executive and co-producing attachments from both the original comic creators and the involved studios. According to The Wrap, Jason Blum is producing for Blumhouse alongside Stephen Christy and original comic writer James Tynion IV for BOOM! Studios and Penguin Random House. Shaun Sutton and Ryan Turek are serving as executive producers for Blumhouse, with Adam Yoelin and Mette Norkjaer also named as executive producers, while comic co-creator Werther Dell’Edera serves as co-producer. [1]

The source material originated as an ongoing comic book series created by writer James Tynion IV and artist Werther Dell'Edera, which BOOM! Studios first launched in September 2019. Zobel previously directed the feature films Compliance, Z for Zachariah, and The Hunt, as well as episodes of television series including Mare of Easttown. [1][10][12]

The project expands the horror slate at Blumhouse, which has simultaneously pursued several other genre properties. Variety reported that the studio is working on an adaptation of the indie video game series Amanda the Adventurer, while ComingSoon reported that Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and Focus Features have acquired the rights to the micro-budget film project Play House.
