The feature adaptation of Street Fighter lost its number-one spot at the North American box office after experiencing a 73 percent decline on Monday, IMDb reported. The film had reached the top box office position in the United States, according to The Hollywood Reporter. As FTMQ Film and TV reported earlier, the production had achieved a domestic opening weekend record for the franchise following its October 16 release. [1][4][10]

Directed by Kitao Sakurai and produced by Legendary Pictures, the live-action video game adaptation presents character designs that closely mirror the Capcom original, SlashFilm reported. Cast members include David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Andrew Koji as Ryu, and Noah Centineo as Ken, according to SlashFilm and ComicBookMovie.com. Dastmalchian revealed to ScreenRant that performing the physical stunt for M. Bison's Psycho Crusher move nearly caused him to throw up while on set, ComingSoon reported. [2][3][6][10]

Sakurai grew up acting as a teenager and subsequently served as the principal director of The Eric Andre Show, as well as the writer and director of the 2021 film Bad Trip. The filmmaker co-wrote and directed the new adaptation, which was backed by Legendary Pictures. Prior to its theatrical release, critics largely panned the film, which they described as an incoherent mess. [1][7][10][11]

Addressing potential future installments, Sakurai stated that he hopes to bring back Koji and Centineo, ComicBookMovie.com reported. However, Cosmic Book News reported that the director has stepped back from immediate sequel plans, stating that creators have not put pen to paper. [5][6]
