Ron Clements and John Musker to Host Great Mouse Detective Panel

Directors Ron Clements and John Musker will participate in a panel discussion celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Great Mouse Detective, according to The Wrap. The event is scheduled to take place on Friday from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Pasadena Convention Center during the annual LightBox Expo. The presentation will detail the creation and production hardships behind the animated feature film. [1]

The Wrap reported that the 1986 film helped initiate a major era of success for Disney Animation. Produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation, the movie was based on the children's book series Basil of Baker Street by Eve Titus and Paul Galdone. Clements and Musker directed the feature alongside Dave Michener and Burny Mattinson. [1][4]

The voice cast for the animated picture included Vincent Price, Barrie Ingham, Val Bettin, Susanne Pollatschek, Candy Candido, Diana Chesney, Eve Brenner, and Alan Young. The story follows a mouse detective assisting a young mouse in rescuing her father from Professor Ratigan. Following this project, Clements and Musker went on to write and direct several other Disney animated features, including The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, Treasure Planet, The Princess and the Frog, and Moana.
