Director Rian Johnson and cinematographer Steve Yedlin have launched Chromagraph Camera, a new iPhone application designed to mirror their cinematic visual style. Deadline and The Times of India reported that the pair created the software after nearly 30 years of collaborative work behind the camera. [1][2]

According to Deadline, the two-time Academy Award-nominated writer and director announced the launch of the application this week. Johnson stated that the app uses the same image processing pipeline that he and Yedlin employ on their feature film projects. [1]

The custom image processing technology built into the application reflects the workflow Johnson and Yedlin utilized on titles such as Brick in 2005, Star Wars: Episode VIII, The Last Jedi in 2017, and the Knives Out feature film franchise, Deadline reported. [1]

Digital image processing relies on computer algorithms to process digital images, avoiding issues such as noise build-up and signal distortion that often affect analog processing systems. [4]
