Cynthia Erivo hosts Saturday Night Live UK season two finale

Actor Cynthia Erivo hosted the season two finale of Saturday Night Live UK, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and TV Insider. The production took place at the Television Centre in London for the final episode of its two month season run. As FTMQ Film and TV reported earlier, Erivo also performed the opening monologue for the episode. [1][4][5][9]

The Hollywood Reporter described the production as a large scale operation running at Television Centre. Audience members attending the live broadcast included Amelia Dimoldenberg and Ike Barinholtz, according to the same outlet. [1]

During the broadcast, Erivo appeared in a parody sketch titled Nigerian Wicked, according to reports from AV Club, Deadline, Variety, and TV Insider. Variety and TV Insider reported that Erivo played the character Glinda alongside cast member Ayoade Bamgboye, who played Elphaba. [2][3][4][5]

AV Club reported that the sketch spoofed both low budget Nollywood film tropes and the musical film Wicked. Variety added that the sketch depicted the characters travelling to meet the Wizard of LagOz. [2][4][5]
