Paul Howard, son of Three Stooges star Moe Howard, dies at 91

Paul Howard, the son of comedy performer Moe Howard, died earlier this week in Manhattan at the age of 91, Variety and Yahoo reported. Throughout his life, Paul Howard served as a guardian of his father's comedic legacy. [1][2]

According to Variety, Paul Howard shared personal memories and insights into his father's life while meeting generations of fans at conventions and events. In 2015, he hosted Hey Moe, Hey Dad!, a nine-episode docuseries that drew on archival footage to examine the history and legacy of The Three Stooges. [1]

Moe Howard was the leader and straight man of The Three Stooges, a farce comedy team active from 1922 to 1970. The group began in vaudeville before creating 190 short films for Columbia Pictures. Moe Howard and Larry Fine remained the constants of the act throughout its run, which relied heavily on physical and slapstick comedy. [3][4]

Moe Howard first joined comedian Ted Healy in vaudeville around 1922 alongside his brother Shemp Howard and violinist Larry Fine. After appearing in the 1930 film Soup to Nuts, the group formally separated from Healy and signed a contract with Columbia Pictures in 1934. [6]
