Netflix has stalled its proposed acquisition of the Radford Studio Center lot in Los Angeles. The Wrap and The Hollywood Reporter both reported that the streaming giant is currently evaluating its future production space requirements in the area to determine if owning a major studio campus remains viable. [1][2]
Hudson Pacific Properties Chief Executive Officer Victor Coleman disclosed the development during a company earnings call. The Wrap and The Hollywood Reporter both reported that Coleman stated Netflix has not closed the transaction and may not decide whether to finalize the deal until later in the year, if at all. [1][2]
The potential purchase would grant the streaming platform direct ownership of a major Los Angeles studio facility. According to The Wrap and The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is currently one of the largest tenants for Hudson Pacific Properties. The Wrap reported that the company leases more than 700,000 square feet of office and production space from the real estate firm in Hollywood. [1][2]
Netflix operates as an American subscription video-on-demand streaming service that distributes original and acquired television series and films globally. The company continues to assess its physical footprint as production facilities and studio real estate needs shift across the entertainment industry. [1][2][5]
