Fox Corp. announced on Tuesday that chief legal and policy officer Adam Ciongoli will step down from his role on 1 December after deciding not to renew his contract, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and Deadline. Executive vice president and principal deputy general counsel Nicholas Trutanich will take over as general counsel and report directly to chief executive Lachlan Murdoch, the three outlets reported. [1][2][3][4]
The Hollywood Reporter noted that Ciongoli helped steer the corporate parent through several lawsuits that involved allegations of election falsehoods. He will remain with the media company as a special advisor, with Variety and Deadline clarifying that his advisory position will run through June 2028. [1][2][3]
Deadline reported that Ciongoli joined Fox in 2023 after serving as an executive at Campbell Soup. The move comes three years after previous executive turnover at the top of the media conglomerate's legal department, according to Deadline. [3]
Trutanich joined Fox five years ago, according to quotes from company statements in The Hollywood Reporter. His elevation places him in charge of the primary legal duties across the media corporation's business divisions. [1][4]
