Director Steven Soderbergh is stepping in to help complete principal photography on The Batman Part II while director Matt Reeves is on hiatus due to a personal family matter, Variety, GoldDerby, and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed. According to Variety, Variety notes that DC Studios supports the arrangement, with Soderbergh stepping in to manage the final weeks of filming. The Hollywood Reporter reported that production will stretch across the final months of filming heading toward a scheduled release date of Feb. 18, 2028. GoldDerby added that Reeves has been dealing with the private family matter since Oct. 5. [1][2][4]

Soderbergh said in an Oct. 15 statement that he praised the work of Reeves on the original film as stunning, intentional, and rigorously coherent, GoldDerby reported. Soderbergh stated that his goal is to generate footage that will integrate seamlessly with existing scenes. SlashFilm reported that Reeves plans to return to the production during post-production. GoldDerby reported that returning cast members for the sequel include Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. Soderbergh is an Oscar-winning director known for Traffic, Sex, Lies, and Videotape, and the Ocean's film trilogy. [2][4][13][15]
