Actress Anna Faris responded on Thursday to comments made by television producer Chuck Lorre in his memoir Sitcom. Deadline and The Wrap reported that Faris released a statement after Lorre wrote about his reluctance to cast her as Christy Plunkett on the CBS sitcom Mom. [1][2]
According to reports from Deadline and The Wrap, Faris stated on Instagram that the comments caught her off guard and hurt her. Faris wrote that she never took a day of the job for granted during her seven years on the series and added that she remains proud of what they made together. [1][2]
Lorre co-created Mom alongside Eddie Gorodetsky and Gemma Baker, and the comedy series aired on CBS for eight seasons from September 2013 to May 2021. The program featured Faris and Allison Janney as a dysfunctional mother and daughter attempting to maintain sobriety. [8][10]
Lorre has created and produced several network sitcoms, including Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory. Separate disputes involving Lorre's memoir also surfaced on Thursday, as former Roseanne writer and producer Tom Arnold criticized Lorre over claims regarding script writing credits during his time on that series, according to The Wrap.
