LaKeith Stanfield and Ben Mendelsohn will star in the horror thriller feature Molepeople, which Paramount and Blumhouse Atomic Monster will co-finance and co-produce, according to The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. Paramount will handle worldwide distribution for the feature, which has a scheduled release date of August 27, 2027. Stanfield previewed the project during a special appearance at New York Comic-Con on October 9, Variety reported. [1][3]
According to The Wrap, Stanfield replaces Anthony Ramos in the project. The Hollywood Reporter and Variety reported that Rob Savage will direct from a screenplay written by Nathan Elston. The narrative follows a man who descends into abandoned tunnels beneath New York City and encounters a twisted society living under the streets, according to the same outlets. [1][3][5]
Stanfield made his feature film debut in Short Term 12 and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for Judas and the Black Messiah. Mendelsohn gained international prominence in Animal Kingdom and won an Emmy Award. Savage has the film Other Mommy opening, according to The Hollywood Reporter. [1][3][7][8]
