Actor Josh Brolin has expressed confidence in the creative direction of Sicario 3 despite original screenwriter Taylor Sheridan not penning the script, ScreenRant reported. Brolin confirmed that development work on the third installment of the action franchise is still actively moving forward. [1]

The project was officially confirmed to be moving ahead in October 2026 following previous delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, and scheduling conflicts, according to ScreenRant. Screenwriter Steven Knight has taken over scriptwriting duties, while Padraic McKinley is set to direct. [1]

ScreenRant also reported that original cast members Benicio del Toro and Emily Blunt are set to return alongside Brolin. Taylor Sheridan previously co-created the television series Yellowstone, while Brolin gained early prominence in The Goonies before earning an Academy Award nomination for Milk. [1][9][10]
