Warner Bros. Animation is preparing to launch its animated feature The Cat in the Hat in North American theaters on Friday, November 6, 2026. ComingSoon and Variety both report that industry tracking projects a domestic opening weekend between 20 million and 25 million dollars. The film is set to open in approximately 4,000 theaters across North America. [1][3]

The projected numbers put the animated feature behind the 2003 live-action adaptation starring Mike Myers. ComingSoon reported that the 2003 adaptation opened to 38.3 million dollars, placing the new release significantly below the previous film's initial theatrical performance. [1]

According to reports by IMDb and Variety, The Cat in the Hat will compete against several new releases, including the Kaiju sequel Godzilla Minus Zero. Godzilla Minus Zero is projected to lead the box office charts with a 30 million dollar opening weekend across 3,254 North American locations. Searchlight is also releasing the dark buddy comedy Wild Horse Nine, directed by Martin McDonagh and starring John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell. [2][3][4]

Bill Hader stars in the voice cast for the animated Dr. Seuss film. Deadline reported that the release marks the animated feature debut for the character, while IMDb notes that the movie needs under 250 million dollars globally to become the top-grossing release for Warner Bros. in 2026. [5][8]
