Skydance Corporation has raised subscription rates for the standalone streaming service Discovery plus in the United States, as reported by the Los Angeles Times, The Hollywood Reporter, Cord Cutters News, Variety, and Deadline. The price increases took effect on October 13, 2026, coming exactly one week after the company completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. The ad-supported tier increased by $1 to $6.99 per month, while the ad-free tier rose by $2 to $11.99 per month. [1][3][5][6][7]
The new pricing applies immediately to all new subscriptions, according to the Los Angeles Times and The Hollywood Reporter. Existing subscribers will receive 30 days of advance notice before the higher rates appear on billing statements dated on or after November 12, 2026, the Los Angeles Times reported. [1][3]
A spokesperson confirmed that the price adjustments were planned prior to the close of the merger between Paramount, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Skydance, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The AV Club reported that Skydance chief executive officer David Ellison previously outlined top priority areas for the newly combined media conglomerate, including leading in a crowded market and becoming a technologically capable media company. [2][3]
Skydance Corporation was formed through the merger of Skydance Media and Paramount Global, before expanding its streaming footprint by acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery. Discovery plus launched in the United States in January 2021, aggregating original programming and television series from brands such as HGTV, Food Network, TLC, Investigation Discovery, and CNN.
