Mike Flanagan adds Mark Hamill cameo to Prime Video Carrie series

Filmmaker Mike Flanagan has included actor Mark Hamill in a cameo role for his television series adaptation of the Stephen King novel Carrie, created for Amazon Prime Video. ScreenRant reported that Flanagan detailed how he secured Hamill for the brief appearance, which the director described as a homecoming. [1][8][9][12]

Page Six and People.com both reported that Hamill is unrecognizable in his surprise cameo. People.com added that Hamill expressed great excitement about participating in the production, which updates King's original horror narrative. [8][9]

Flanagan wrote, directed, and edited previous Stephen King adaptations including Gerald's Game, Doctor Sleep, and The Life of Chuck, the latter of which also starred Hamill. King original novel Carrie was published by Doubleday after receiving a 2,500 dollar advance in 1973, before being adapted into a 1976 feature film directed by Brian De Palma. [1][4][10][12]

The new Prime Video adaptation alters aspects of the source material, including changes to the character of Margaret White. SlashFilm reported that these narrative adjustments to Carrie could pave the way for a broader Stephen King television universe. [2][4][12]
