FX has officially renewed the anthology series American Horror Story for a 14th season, according to reports from Deadline, Variety, and TV Line. The announcement comes from the network a week ahead of the season 13 finale scheduled for October 29. The series was created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk and streams on Hulu alongside its cable broadcast on FX. [2][3][4][11]

The renewal follows strong viewership metrics for the current installment, titled AHS: 13. Deadline and the AV Club both report that the season 13 premiere marked the biggest streaming launch in the history of the series, as well as the largest premiere on Hulu and Disney+ for Murphy. Deadline added that the debut episode made an appearance on the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 chart. [1][4]

The 13th season serves as a franchise landmark that incorporates plot elements and characters from nearly all previous 12 seasons, TV Line reported. According to Variety and TV Line, the current cast features returning performers including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, and Jessica Lange. Variety noted that additional returning cast members include Frances Conroy, Jamie Brewer, John Carroll Lynch, Mena Suvari, Mat Fraser, and Seth Gabel. [2][3]

Created for FX, the show is structured as an anthology where most seasons function as self-contained miniseries featuring distinct character ensembles, settings, and storylines. The franchise originally launched its first season in 2011 and has since anchored cable and streaming programming for FX and Hulu. [2][11][13]
