The upcoming feature Ramayana generated 22.11 crore rupees in opening day advance bookings across Indian cinemas ahead of its premiere on November 5, Sacnilk reported. Sacnilk said total advance sales across two show dates reached 29.65 crore rupees, or 23.71 crore rupees excluding block seats. The figures reflect data collected from 12,631 shows in 1,392 cinemas across 403 cities. According to Koimoi, the pre-sale figures already mark the sixth biggest opening gross of actor Ranbir Kapoor's career. [1][2]
The Indian Express separately reported that the production sold 400,000 tickets across India and earned 3 million dollars in overseas pre-sales. Domestic geographical data from Sacnilk shows that Maharashtra recorded the highest opening day total at 4.29 crore rupees, accounting for 19 percent of the gross. Sacnilk added that Karnataka generated 4.11 crore rupees, while the National Capital Region generated 3.41 crore rupees. [1][3]
The feature is the first of a two-part adaptation written and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, who co-wrote the screenplay alongside Shridhar Raghavan. Produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash, the Indian epic stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi. Sony Pictures Entertainment acquired the international distribution rights outside India in July 2026, as FTMQ Film & TV reported earlier. [8][11]
