The Walt Disney Company has laid off between 100 and 200 employees within its experiences division, according to reports by the Los Angeles Times and Mickey Visit. WDW News Today, Blog Mickey, and the Los Angeles Times all confirmed that at least 100 workers were impacted by the job cuts. [1][2][4][5][6]
The layoffs affect staff across Disney theme parks, the Disney Cruise Line, and the Aulani resort and spa in Hawaii, the Los Angeles Times reported. WDW News Today added that the reductions include positions within Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Live Entertainment. [1][4]
The cuts stem from a regular evaluation of the division's priorities, investments, and project timelines, according to a person familiar with the matter cited by the Los Angeles Times. The Burbank-based media conglomerate declined to comment on the workforce reduction, even as it maintains a high volume of active parks-related projects. [1]
Disney Experiences oversees the conglomerate's theme parks, resorts, cruise line, vacation ownership ventures, and consumer products operations. As FTMQ Film & TV reported earlier, rival theme park operators have also experienced headwinds in their parks businesses during recent financial quarters. [7][8]
