The film adaptation Verity debuted at number one at the weekend box office, according to reports from ComingSoon and ABC News. ComingSoon reported that the movie surpassed industry projections, earning Amazon MGM Studios a strong return on its $40 million budget. Meanwhile, MediaPost, The Express Tribune, and FTMQ Film & TV reported that Digger opened to $8 million. [6][9][2][10][15]

Global earnings for Verity reached $62 million, while Digger secured a worldwide opening of $20 million, according to Deadline. The Express Tribune reported a domestic debut of $32 million for Verity. Mandatory.com reported that Digger faces a reported $150 million loss, while ABC News reported the film bombed for Warner Bros. as the company sits on the cusp of a merger. [3][10][7][9]

Verity stars Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett, according to ComingSoon. Digger is an American satirical black comedy directed, co-written, and co-produced by Alejandro G. Iñárritu. Cruise produced and starred as Digger Rockwell, an aging oil magnate whose drilling causes an ecological disaster. The supporting cast includes Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Jesse Plemons. [6][12]

The performance of Digger marks the lowest box office launch for Cruise in 19 years, as FTMQ Film & TV reported earlier. The contrast between the two releases comes as studios navigate shifting theatrical dynamics. [15]
