Lucio Fulci horror classic The Beyond to be remade by Severin Films

A remake of Lucio Fulci’s 1981 horror classic The Beyond is officially in development, Film Stories, Variety, Bloody Disgusting, JoBlo, and Rue Morgue all reported. The project represents the first title in a planned slate of vintage genre revivals. [1][2][3][4][5]

Production partners Hangtime International Pictures and Severin Films have forged a joint partnership to produce the film and additional genre reboots, according to Variety and Rue Morgue. Film Stories noted that the original film was once banned in the United Kingdom. [1][2][5]

Fulci was an Italian film director, screenwriter, and actor who worked across multiple genres, including comedies and spaghetti Westerns, during a career that spanned nearly five decades. He built an international cult following through his horror and giallo films. [6]

Born in Rome, Fulci studied at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia before beginning his career as a screenwriter and assistant director in the 1950s. He directed his first feature film, the comedy I ladri, in 1959. [8]
